ohn C. Fredriksen, Ph.D., is an independent
historian and a recognized authority on the
War of 1812 manuscripts. He is the author of
ABC-CLIO’s Warbirds: An Illustrated Guide to
U.S. Military Aircraft, 1915–2000; American
Military Leaders: From Colonial Times to the
Present;and the newInternational Warbirds: An
Illustrated Guide to World Military Aircraft,
1914–2000. He holds degrees from UCLA, the
University of Michigan, the University of Rhode Is-
land, and Providence College.
