About 44 photographers and one model met at Saphan Taksin BTS station on October 12th, 2025 for our 140th
photo walk, gathering in the serenity of the San Chao Jiao Eng Biaw Shrine for the group photo. The group
almost immediately separated out into two clumps, the first following Mark and focusing on street photography
while the much slower clump formed around Chutima, Ben and Far Far, our guest model.
Our route first snaked around Central Bangrak, through a small wet market, past Wat Suan Phlu and along
the back alleys to Bangrak Junction, where Charoen Krung Road spawns Silom Road. Continuing north, we
got back off the main road quickly, ducking back into the sois to pass OP Place, the Embassy of France, and
the Haroon Mosque and Civil Defence Volunteer station before ending up back on Charoen Krung Road at the
General Post Office. The back group, with the model, went all the way down Soi Charoen Krung 32, almost to
the CAT Tower pier, to shoot Far Far in front of the street art gallery there. We then backed up on ourselves a
little to pass through Warehouse 30 and finally catch up with Mark’s group at ATT 19 gallery and café, which
kindly opened early especially for us.
The planned route went on a little further before looping back around to ATT 19, passing the Embassy of
Portugal and House No. 1 to see some more street art on Soi Charoen Krung 28. However, the group with Far
Far made such slow progress that the walk lasted for closer to three hours than the more typical two, even with
with this last section cut off.
For those who were more interested in shooting the neighbourhood than the model, the Bang Rak
subdistrict had plenty to offer. It’s a place with a lot of different cultural influences throughout its history as a
commercial hub for western traders, which you can see all over the architecture. We visited the broader Bang
Rak district in January 2024 and the foreword of Bangkok Photo Walks issue 97 described a lot of the most
interesting historical highlights, though we got a better view of them on walk #140 than walk #121. Sticking
closer to the river this month, we also encountered some striking modern structures, including the monolithic
French Embassy and the orwellian General Post Office building, though neither features much in this 116th
issue of Bangkok Photo Walks.
The following 14-page section is just photos of Far Far, some sorted into pages or spreads by a single
photographer, others with multiple contributors. After that, it’s just street photos, with 33 excellent
perspectives of the neighbourhood’s unique quirks and scenes. We hope that you enjoy them all.
Have fun,
Mark, Chutima, and Ben.
