(^12) Puk Tian Beach – Hua Hin – 49 km
The coastal route meandered along the idyllic Gulf of Thailand,
bringing us to the charming resort town of Cha-Am, where
holidaymakers enjoyed a quiet Saturday morning by the ocean. We
continued our journey to the popular Hua Hin, where the beach
stretched out in a magnificent expanse of golden sand, and it was
simply too inviting to resist. In the heart of the old town, we
stumbled upon a quaint guesthouse, precariously perched on stilts
above the sea. The wooden structure creaked gently as high tide
lapped at the posts, creating a soothing symphony of water and
wood. There on the deck, with the ocean stretching out before us, we
found the perfect spot to savour a cold beer, watching the sun dip
below the horizon in a spectacular display of colours.
Hua Hin Beach sported deck chairs where one could kick back in the
shade and sip a beer with the ocean lapping at one's feet. The city
was further famous for its nightly food markets. Here, one could
choose from a considerable variety of dishes, but sadly, there was no
vegetarian food.
Hau Hin – Prachuap Khiri Khan – 98 km
Ernest took his sweet time, dawdling about until it was well past
by the time we finally set off. The route south was remarkably flat
and untroubled, a scene I never complained about. En route, we
stopped for lunch, enjoying a steaming bowl of fragrant noodle soup
—an unassuming dish available in all corners of Thailand. Shortly
afterwards, we arrived in the charming village of Prachuap Khiri Khan,
where we opted for a rustic hut just north of town.
