After I wash a
large piece of
fabric, I roll it
onto a POSTER

to keep it wrinkle-
and crease-free
until I’m ready to
use it in a project.
JENNIFER SOIKA
Milwaukee GLUED TO THE SPOT
I use small glue dots to secure
the thread ends to my spools.
The dots are easy to loosen
when I use the thread again.

TIPS FROM OUR READERS

Because my sewing
room is small and
oddly shaped, I need to
go to another room to
have enough distance
for viewing a layout
on a design wall. To
accommodate this,
I built a FOLDING
SCREEN and covered
it with FLANNEL. Now
I can arrange a quilt
on the fl annel while in
my sewing room, close
and latch the screen,
and carry it to another
room for viewing.

Before I leave for
a quilt retreat,
I fi ll a BUNCH OF
BOBBINS with
white, off -white,
and/or gray thread.
That way if I run out,
I can quickly stick a
fi lled bobbin in my
machine.

TRAVEL LIGHT
I love to chew gum and don’t
want to waste the plastic
cases the gum comes in.
Instead, I pack my English
paper piecing supplies in the
empty cases. They easily fi t
into my purse, which makes
my projects travelworthy.
