CUT FABRICS
Cut pieces in the following order.
Patterns are on Pattern Sheet 3.
To use fusible web for appliquéing,
complete the following steps.

Lay fusible web, paper side up, over
patterns. Use a pencil to trace each
pattern the number of times indicated
in cutting instructions, leaving^1 ⁄ 4 "
between tracings. Cut out each fusible-
web shape roughly^1 ⁄ 8 " outside traced
lines.

Following manufacturer’s
instructions, press each fusible-
web shape onto designated felted wool;
let cool. Cut out felted wool shapes on
drawn lines. Peel off paper backings.
From brown tone-on-tone, cut:
▫ 1—20×24" rectangle
▫ 2—2× 181 ⁄ 2 " outer border strips
▫ 2—2× 151 ⁄ 2 " outer border strips
▫ 1—13^1 ⁄ 2 " square
▫ 36—2" squares
From beige plaid wool, cut:
▫ 2 of Pattern A
From solid light beige wool, cut:
▫ 2 each of patterns B and D
▫ 1 each of patterns H, N, and S
From textured brown wool, cut:
▫ 2 of Pattern C
From solid brown wool, cut:
▫ 2 of Pattern F
From beige houndstooth wool, cut:
▫ 2 of Pattern E
From assorted textured beige wools,
cut:
▫ 2 each of patterns G and
G reversed
▫ 1 each of patterns K, M, O, P, Q ,
and R
From solid medium beige wool, cut:
▫ 1 each of patterns H, K, and L
From solid ivory wool, cut:
▫ 3 of Pattern I
▫ 10 of Pattern J
From solid cream, cut:
▫ 16—2× 31 ⁄ 2 " rectangles
From muslin, cut:
▫ 1—20×24" rectangle
▫ 1—20" square
From brown-and-beige stripe, cut:
▫ Enough 2^1 ⁄ 2 "-wide bias strips to
total 125" in length for binding

From batting, cut:
▫ 1—20×24" rectangle
▫ 1—20" square
APPLIQUÉ AND EMBROIDER

page 68, for all stitch instructions.

Fold brown tone-on-tone 13^1 ⁄ 2 "
square in half vertically and
horizontally. Press lightly to make
placement guidelines; unfold. Tape
Full-Size Appliqué and Embroidery
Pattern to a light box or bright
window. Tape prepared brown
tone-on-tone square atop pattern,
aligning fabric guidelines with pattern
guidelines. Using a white fabric
pencil, trace vines onto fabric to make
appliqué foundation.
