foundation. Fuse pieces in
place following manufacturer’s
instructions.

floss in colors that match
appliqués, whipstitch each shape in
place.

Pattern, use three strands of brown
embroidery floss to make nine lazy
daisy stitches and three French
knots on each B piece and five
straight stitches and three French
knots on each I piece.

perle cotton No. 8 , make eight
buttonhole wheel stitches around
each J circle, backstitch filament
lines extending from D/E flowers,
and make a French knot at end of
each filament.

Using one strand each of tan
and brown perle cotton No. 8 ,
make fly stitches for veins in layered
H and N pieces and for feathers on
S bird tail.

Using three strands of brown
embroidery floss, make French
knots in centers of J circles and at
ends of vein lines on layered H and
N pieces; make one French knot on
R piece for bird’s eye.

embroidery floss, fly-stitch
veins in solid medium beige H, K,
and L leaves.

Using one strand each of ivory
and tan perle cotton No. 5 ,
stem-stitch traced vines.
