This image of the very
beautiful Crab Nebula
(Messier 1) is a magnificent
culmination of images
taken in different
wavelengths with the help
of humanity’s greatest
space telescopes. The
various colours in the
nebula coordinate to
the different telescopes
and their respective
wavelengths. Blue relates
to NASA’s Chandra X-ray
Observatory, yellow to the
visible light of NASA/ESA’s
Hubble Space Telescope,
while red relates to the
infrared view of NASA’s
recently retired Spitzer
Space Telescope.
