“I first began
looking at
the sky in a
place called
Juromenha,
a village near Elvas, where
I live and started trying to
understand more about the
objects I was seeing in the night
sky. Today I basically just shoot
astrophotography: what once
were white dots in the sky to me,
today are stars and planets, and
everything has a name. That’s
what makes me passionate about
astrophotography and led me to
forge an interest in science.”

“I have always had an affinity with
dark nights since a holiday as a child,
sitting looking in amazement at all of
the stars of the Milky Way. In recent
years I decided to get more involved
in astronomy and later embarked
on a hobby in astrophotography. I
have begun a degree in astronomy
and planetary science to better
understand what I image.”
