vertical takeoff
The A irbus A380 currently holds the title for the biggest
passenger plane, but that could all change. Called Sk y
Whale, this concept aeroplane would have a w ingspan
of 88 metres (289 feet), compared to the A380’s 80
metres (262 feet). It would seat 755 passengers, making
it economically viable for airlines. The Sk y Whale
would be able to fl y f urther w ithout ref uelling thanks
to a double f uselage, and solar cells on the w ings
would harness power from the Sun. Designed by Oscar
Viñals, the aircraft also boasts innovative features
such as tilting engines for near-vertical takeoffs. Visit
