Hermès’ 2018 home collection sees graphic prints being
executed with the utmost warmth and finesse. Think paper
place mats, bamboo stools (dubbed the “Karumi”),
curved leather trays and Raoul Dufy-inspired jacquard
wallpapers, all besieged with lines, louvres and lattices
in a rich, earthy palette. The furnishing fabrics
are also a lavish offering: Imagine jazzing up
the little one’s room with a circus-themed frieze,
drawn from French artist Annie Faivre’s silk scarf.

MASTER OF DETAILS
Ashley Yeo creates some of the most ethereal artworks with
simple tools: Pencils, paper, scalpel blades and watercolour. Known
for her poignant black and white drawings and dreamy paintings, the
27-year-old’s artworks invoke feelings of lightness, mindfulness and introspection
from anyone who gazes on them. Even more intricate, however, are the
hand-cut paper sculptures that have garnered her global recognition.
Her most recent feat was being picked as one of 30 fi
nalists for
Loewe’s Craft Prize 2018—the fi rst and only
Singaporean—from 1,900 international submissions.
Her entry, “Arbitrary Metrics II” is a series of cylindrical
and cube paper sculptures that showcase
a level of intricate fi ligree that is
more commonly found
in metalwork.
