Have you read John T. Molloy’s
The Women’s Dress for Success Book
(1977)? It’s a fascinating
read with many amusing
dress etiquette anecdotes
for the workplace, like:
“Never buy an acetate
scarf ”; or “makeup works best with
men when they don’t know you’re
wearing it”. Until recently, “power
dressing” for women has always been
about the ability to fit into a man’s
world and be one of the boys. Thank
goodness we’ve long left those
antiquated notions behind for the
satisfaction and joy that comes from
dressing solely for oneself. Be it through
a nipped-waist blazer that exalts my curves
(12), or a Wonder Woman-like cuff (1) that
shows I’m ready to kick ass, I go from
floral to camel (9) on nothing more
than a whim, while taking delight in a
colour-saturated top (3) that punctuates
my day with vibrancy and vigour. A
sensational pair of patent booties (8) lets me
conquer the world in style and comfort,
while a pedigree watch (7) keeps me
on track (and shows off my wild side
too, for that matter).The finishing
touch? A darling pair of diamond
earrings (11) to add a touch of
sparkle to my face and complement
my boyish short crop with class. ■
