Fashion commentator Kate Waterhouse is
the first to admit she’s found a rather novel
application for the high-tech camera on her
Huawei P30 Pro phone. “I use it as a handheld
mirror—the camera’s so good I flip it to fix my
make-up at parties,” says the TV presenter, who
hails from Australian horseracing’s ‘first family’
and is a regular fixture on Sydney’s party scene.
Sleek as the smartphone’s newest version
looks, Waterhouse was won over by more than
aesthetics. Its award-winning Leica quad camera
“is so important, not only for my work capturing
content at runway shows, races and events, but
also to capture my family moments,” she says.

“My girls are three and five, and I love being able
to capture amazing moments with them on
the go—from beautiful portraits, to landscape
images and action shots. You really learn so
much about what it can do the more you use it:
from the zoom setting to the portrait setting.
The photos I get blow my mind.”
This limited-edition Misty Lavender P30 Pro
(pictured) is a party accessory in its own right,
too: each of the almost 1,000 devices released
in Australia comes with a white-to-pink-hued
case embellished in Swarovski Element crystals.
Prefer to step out sans bling? The matt surface
is fingerprint-resistant, meaning a flawless finish
when you point its back to friends as you snap.
Granted, pink tones are not for everyone,
so Huawei has created three more tempting
P30 Pro finishes: chic Black, elegant Aurora
(a rich blue-green), and a whimsical salt-flat-
inspired finish called Breathing Crystal that’s
a guaranteed conversation starter.
