ENGSO AND ENGSO YOUTH


The European Non-Governmental Sports Organisation


(ENGSO) General Assembly, organised by the German


Olympic Sports Confederation, took place in Frankfurt,


Germany on June 14-15, 2019, attracting the


participation of ENGSO member federations as well


as several partner organisations, including EUSA.


ENGSO President Mr Carlos
Cardoso welcomed all
participants to the meeting,
which was followed by an
address from Mr Jan Holze,
Chairman of German Sports
Youth.


After the welcome addresses,
the floor was given to
representatives of invited
partner organisations as
EUSA Secretary General Mr
Matjaz Pecovnik, present on
behalf of EUSA, addressed the
audience, stressing the good
partnership EUSA and ENGSO
have developed over the last five
years, after both organisations
signed a Memorandum of
Understanding in 2014.


Mr Yves Le Lostecque, Head of
Sport Union at the European
Commission, then presented
the most recent developments
of the EU policy in the field
of sport, focusing on the


implementation of 3rd EU work
plan for sport (2017-2020),
Erasmus+ Sport and the
European Week of Sport.

Mr Stanislas Frossard, Executive
Secretary of EPAS, then took
the stand, presenting the latest
news from the Council of
Europe.

The morning programme
concluded with a workshop
entitled Sustainable
Development and Sports after
which the General Assembly
took place in the afternoon,
where delegates approved the
reports and action plan for the
upcoming period, and elected
new members of the Executive
Committee.

Mr Stefan Bergh, former ENGSO
Secretary General, was elected
as new ENGSO President. Ms
Filipa Godinho, who was the
Sports Director at EUG 2018

in Coimbra, was elected as an
Executive Committee Member.

At the occasion of the ENGSO
General Assembly, Mr Pecovnik
also met with Mr Christoph
Fischer, ADH Secretary General,
to discuss matters relating to
university sport in Europe and
across the world.
