  1. PARTNERS AND NETWORK

EUROPEAN JUDO UNION

EUSA expanded its growing list of continental partners by

signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the European
Judo Union (EJU) on June 23, 2019, strengthening general

cooperation and partnership between the two organisations.

EUSA, represented by its
President Mr Adam Roczek and
Secretary General Mr Matjaz
Pecovnik, and European Judo
Union (EJU), represented
by its President Mr Sergey
Soloveychik and Vice-President
Mr Michal Vachun, signed the
Memorandum in Minsk, Belarus.

Judo has been part of the
EUSA sports programme
since 2011, when the first
European Universities Judo
Championship was held in
the Bosnia and Herzegovina
capital Sarajevo. Four editions
of European Universities Judo
Championships have been
organised in total, while Judo
also appeared in the previous

two editions of the European
Universities Games, in Zagreb-
Rijeka 2016 and Coimbra 2018.

In 2019, Judo was included as
one of the four different sports
on the programme at the first
European Universities Combat
Championships in Zagreb,
Croatia, while it will also feature
as one of the 20 sporting
disciplines at the fifth edition
of the European Universities
Games in Belgrade, Serbia.

Thereafter, Judo will again
be included as the one of
the four sports at the 2021
European Universities Combat
Championships, taking place

once more in the Croatia capital,
Zagreb.

The aim of the signed
Memorandum of Understanding
is for EUSA and EJU to work
together in activities and
projects promoting Judo as
a university sport in Europe,
to promote and contribute
to the development of judo
competitions among students
while also exchanging
information and searching for
new opportunities arising from
the newly-signed cooperation.
