SELL GAMES 2019

More than 1 300 students from 48 universities in seven different countries took part in


the 2019 edition of the annual SELL Games, organised under the patronage of EUSA.


The SELL Games is an
international sports competition
for students, with its roots going
back to the year 1923 when
the first International Regional
Student Sports competitions
were organised in Tartu and
then later became known as the
SELL Games. Each year one of
the four host countries – Finland
(Suomi), Estonia (Eesti), Latvia
(Latvija), Lithuania (Lietuva),
making up the event’s name
SELL – take turns to organise
the SELL Student Games.


The 2019 edition was hosted in
the Lithuanian city of Kaunas,
marking the 35th edition of the


event which attracted over
1 300 students from seven
different countries, namely
Estonia, Finland, Latvia,
Lithuania, Russia, Poland and
China.

Under the slogan “One Game –
One Heart”, the Games were
organised by the Lithuanian
Students Sports Association
(LSSA), under the patronage
of the International University
Sports Federation (FISU) and
the European University Sports
Association (EUSA), which was
represented at the event by
President Mr Adam Roczek.

Students competed in 13
different disciplines, including
Track and Field, Basketball,
Rugby 7s, Mini Football,
Volleyball, Swimming,
Powerlifting, Table Tennis,
Judo, Badminton, Orienteering,
Wrestling (Greco-Roman) and
Chess.

After three days of fun-filled
sporting action, it was the
Lithuanian Sports University
who emerged as overall victors,
winning 19 gold medals, 19
silver and 17 bronze medals in
total. Second spot was taken
by the China University of
Geosciences with seven gold,

two silver and two bronze
medals, while Vilnius University
ended third with six gold, seven
silver and nine bronze medals.
