EUSA EXECUTIVE
COMMITTEE MEETINGS
The elected EUSA Executive Committee, who are responsible for the good
governance of the organisation and implementation of decisions taken by the
General Assembly, met on four separate occasions over 2019 to discuss and
review the work done by the association while ensuring its continued progression.

EUSA’s Executive Committee
members and invited guests
met in Antalya, Turkey in March
for the first official meeting of
the year, hosted by the Turkish
University Sports Federation
(TUSF).
The participants were welcomed
on behalf of the local hosts
by TUSF President Mr Kemal
Tamer, Vice-President Mr
Mehmet Gunay, Secretary
General Erdogan Celebi and their
team. On behalf of the Executive
Committee, EUSA President Mr
Adam Roczek thanked the hosts
for the hospitality and warm
welcome and presented them a
commemorative plaque.
Executive Committee members
first acquainted themselves
with the reports of the EUSA
Office and Institute, presented
by EUSA Secretary General Mr
Matjaz Pecovnik and financial
report by EUSA Treasurer Mr
Lorenz Ursprung.
The past and future editions
of the EUSA Sports events –
Championships and Games –
were discussed next. The
Organising Committee of the
upcoming European Universities
Games Belgrade attended
the meeting, presented the
progress report and upcoming
plans. Their delegation was led
by Director of the EUG2020
Mr Predrag Juskovic, and the
meeting was also attended by
the new President of the Serbian
University Sport Federation
(USSS) Mr Dejan Madic, Rector
of the University of Belgrade Ms
Ivanka Popovic and supporting
staff.
Executive Committee members
were then acquainted with
the progress report of the
2019 European Universities
Championships, while EUSA
endorsed events and FISU
University Cups were also
discussed.
Participants then received an
update on the preparations for
the year’s educational events
and meetings, including the
FISU-EUSA Seminar, EUSA
Conference, General Assembly
and Anniversary Gala, as well as
the 2020 General Assembly.
Projects and initiatives
supported by the International
University Sports Federation
(FISU) and the European Union
through Erasmus+ programme
were then presented, as well
as several other projects in the
field of promotion of education
in and through sport with special
focus on skills development,
dual career, social inclusion and
equal opportunities in sport.
Reports of the EUSA
commissions were then
presented by their chairs
and secretaries – Student,
Technical, Equal Opportunities,
Education, Media and
Communications, Finance and
Marketing; reflecting also on
the measurements of the EUSA
development strategy and
internal regulations. Updates
from member federations, FISU
and continental federations,
as well as partner and other
organisations were also given to
conclude the two-day meeting
before a sightseeing trip of
Antalya, where participants had
the opportunity to experience
traditional Turkish hospitality,
culture and cuisine.
Naples, Italy

At the occasion of the 30th FISU
Summer Universiade which
took place in Italy, the EUSA
Executive Committee convened
an extraordinary meeting on
July 4, 2019 in Naples.
The Executive Committee
members discussed the
proposals for modification of the
EUSA Statutes to be in line with
the EUSA Development Strategy
adopted the previous year.
The proposals, together with
various other decisions taken in
connection with the operation
of the association, were then
presented during the EUSA
Extraordinary General Assembly
in September, where the
year’s third EUSA Executive
Committee meeting was held in
Aveiro, Portugal.

At the occasion of EUSA’s
20 th anniversary celebrations
in Aveiro, Portugal, a brief
Executive Committee meeting
was held prior to the following
day’s EUSA Conference and
General Assembly.
The Executive Committee
discussed a number of internal
matters while finalising points
of discussion ahead of the
Extraordinary General Assembly
taking place in Aveiro.
Ljubljana, Slovenia
November 29-30, 2019
The EUSA Executive Committee’s
final meeting of 2019 was held in
Ljubljana, Slovenia on November
29 and 30.
Apart from the members of the
Executive Committee and EUSA
staff, representatives from the
European Universities Games
Belgrade Organising Committee
were also invited to the meeting.
The meeting started with a
welcome address from EUSA
President Mr Adam Roczek and
EUSA Secretary General Mr
Matjaz Pecovnik, followed by a
general report of activities from
the previous meeting.
The very successful season of
the 2019 European Universities
Championships was presented
next, with the evaluation of
each event, presentation of
the statistics, discussing also
disciplinary matters, as well
as awards. A presentation of
FISU World University Leagues
and Cups was made, reporting
on the successful 3x3 event in
Xiamen, as well as the Football
event in Jiniang. Other EUSA
endorsed events, held under the
patronage of the organisation,
were also discussed.
FISU-supported projects
and projects supported by
the European Union were
presented as well. EUSA and
its Institute are very active
