EUROPEAN COMMISSION


On an annual basis, the European Commission organises a number of


seminars, meetings and gatherings for stakeholders across Europe,


including EUSA, to discuss various aspects of sport on the continent.


EU Sport Info Day


The European Commission
and the Education, Audiovisual
and Culture Executive Agency
(EACEA) organised an
information day on Erasmus+
Sport and other EU funding
opportunities in Brussels,
Belgium on February 5, 2019
followed by project coordinators’
meeting the following day.


Over 500 people representing
various organisations and
institutions from all over
Europe attended the 6th edition
of the Sport Info Day, where
information about the Erasmus+
sports chapter and other EU
funding opportunities related to
sports activities were presented.


ECEG Meeting


The fourth edition of the
European Commission’s Expert
Group on Skills and Human
Resources Development in
Sport meeting was held in the
city of Lisbon, Portugal on May
15-16, 2019.


A number of varying
presentations were made over
the two days, involving topics
such as dual career, education
of coaches, EU-funded
programmes, upcoming events
and the drafted guidelines for


the basic requirements in skills
and competences for coaches.

EWOS Seminar
Over 100 representatives from
national coordinating bodies
and partners of the European
Week of Sport and the #beactive
campaign met in Sintra,
Portugal between May 22 and
24, 2019 for the Key Players’
Seminar.

The seminar was organised by
the Sport Unit of the European
Commission and hosted by the
Portuguese Institute of Sport
and Youth (IPDJ).

Outlines for the 2019 edition
of the European Week of Sport
were presented followed by a
number of presentations and
workshops, with special focus
given to networking and the
sharing of experiences between
the national governing bodies
and partners.

EU Presidency Conference
On June 13-14, 2019, the
Romanian Presidency of the
Council of the European Union
and the European Commission
organised a conference
entitled ‘The Advantages of
practicing sport in an organised
environment for people with

fewer opportunities’ in Mamaia/
Constanta, Romania.

The conference included
panels on the social role of
sport, focusing on inclusion
through sport for people
with fewer opportunities, and
workshops focussing on the
benefits of sport for children
and young people at risk and
on the organised sport in
disadvantaged areas.

Erasmus+ Sport
Cluster Meeting 
On December 4-5, 2019 the
Education, Audiovisual and
Culture Executive Agency and
the Sport unit of the European
Commission organised an
Erasmus+ Sport Cluster
Meeting on ‘The role of sport
in education: enhancing skills
development and dual careers
perspectives’ in Brussels,
Belgium.

The meeting focused on the
promotion of education in and
through sport with special
focus on skills development
and implementation of the EU
guidelines on Dual Careers
of Athletes, with a number of
plenary sessions and workshops
related to the topic.

Sports Specificity Seminar
The European Commission
organised a Seminar on
Specificity of Sport on
December 17 in Brussels,
Belgium, involving
representatives of key
stakeholders in the field of
sport, including EUSA.

The Seminar involved several
round tables discussing the
European model of sport, from
grass-root to commercialized
competition gathered under one
umbrella, often self-regulated,
based on volunteering services
and on solidarity between the
professional and amateur part.

EUSA was represented at
the event by its President Mr
Adam Roczek and Student
Commission Chair Ms Anna
Edes.
