- Active natural hydrogen donates
free electrons
- Free electrons activate
cytochrome oxidative system in
mitochondria to make ATP (Adenosine
triphosphate)
The water in natural streams
present in forest ecosystem has the
highest number of hydrogen- donating
free electrons. As stated in the works
of Dr. Tru Ott, if the amount of total
dissolved solids (TDS) in water is
greater 50 mg/litre, it may not be able
to effectively function as a universal
anti- oxidant as the movement of
electrons are hindered by TDS and it
will not be transferred from hydrogen
to our cellular structures. Suppose
the concentration of TDS is above
200 mg/litre, then the availability of
active natural hydrogen would be so
less and hence, free electrons may
be very minimal. In view of the above
facts, it must be learned that the best
water to drink is the one which contains
highest number of hydrogen-donating
electrons.
Issues associated with caffeine
& carbonated beverages:
Though caffeine and herb tea may
have certain nutritional effect, these
drinks inhibit hydration as hydrogen
gets bonded and it may not be able
to donate free electrons. Herb teas
may nutritionally rich but poorly
hydrating as it contains high
concentrations of TDS which do not
allow free movement of electrons from
hydrogen. So there exists a clear
demarcation between nutritional and
hydrating drinks. The drinks that are
nutritionally good may not be always
good in hydration.
Association between Cancer
and Hydration (Cousens, 2005):
- Dehydration (lacking of
hydrogen ions) is always associated
with DNA malfunctioning
- If dehydration persist for long
time, for DNA, the tendency to get
mutated is high and thus, at times,
ascendance of malignancy may be
occurred
- Alkaline pH has to be
maintained for extracellular and acidic
pH has to be maintained for intra
cellular fluid.
Issues associated with alkaline
water (Cousens, 2005):
- In general, we are often advised
by many to drink alkaline water but
drinking such water may cause
adverse effects in the long run
- Alkaline water also has
hydrogen but as hydroxyl ion, which
is a powerful free radical, causing
damage to cellular structures by
oxidation
- Hydroxyl ions present in alkaline
water are electron acceptors not
donors and thus oxidises
- Oxidation elevates ageing and
degeneration (Cousens, 2005)
- People often feel energised
when they drink alkaline water because
the hydroxyl ions present in alkaline
water destroy cells and gives-off
energy. But continuous consumption
of alkaline water may increase the
probabilities of occurrence of
degenerative diseases.
- What we need is slightly acidic
water which makes extracellular fluid
alkaline and intracellular fluid acidic.
The ratio of water inside cells to
outside cells varies from 1.1 to 0.
with age (Batmanghelidj, 1997). We
must maintain the ratio at 1.1 always
to remain hydrated. The water that
possesses hydrogen molecules which
are capable of donating electrons has
the capacity to scavenge free radicals.
Thus it decreases the rate of ageing.
Issues associated with boiling:
When we boil water, the structure
and stability of water clusters gets
changed as heat energy disturbs the
hydrogen bonding between water
molecules. In a water molecule,
hydrogen possesses partial positive
