your documents to make them easier

to read and navigate.

SET TEXT STYLES Styles work by reformatting selected

text to a specified font (including attributes such as bold or

italic, colour and size), alignment (left, centre, right, justified) and

line spacing. Google Docs offers nine text styles: normal (or

body) text, title and subtitle, plus six header styles. It’s important

to set up your normal text style first, as changes to this affect all

other styles.

LOG IN AND GET STARTED Open your browser and head to

docs.google.com, signing in with your Google Account if

necessary. Click Blank under the Template gallery to create a

blank document, from where you’ll define your Styles. These will

be limited to that document, but you can select ‘Format >

Paragraph Styles > Options > Save as my default styles’ to use

them across all future documents.
