I

t’s an exciting time for Lord Howe
conservation. Following rodent eradication
last year, we expect much change to bird life.
Over six days, the expedition will survey the
established Birdlife Atlas sites from North
Bay to Mt Gower’s summit to help study
populations of local and migratory birds.
We hope to fi nd species that are: recovering
in existing breeding grounds; expanding into
to new grounds; or perhaps new to the island
or returning aft er disappearing following the
introduction of rodents in the 1920s.
