If you haven’t already, launch WhatsApp.
Once WhatsApp is open, begin by tapping
on the green button located in the bottom
right of the main WhatsApp screen in the
Chats tab. This is the New Chat icon, but it’s
also used for setting up new contacts, or
messaging one of your existing contacts.2
As mentioned, WhatsApp automatically
adds contacts that are already using the
app; these will be taken from your phone’s
available contacts and appear in the list. This
list is dynamically updated as you update
your device’s contacts list (providing the
contact is using WhatsApp).How to Add Friends

To start communicating with others you’re going to need to add
them to your WhatsApp contacts. By default WhatsApp will
access your phone’s contact list and automatically display those
who already have the app, but adding new contacts is easy.
