All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and
Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT-
Kgp) have signed a memorandum of understanding
(MoU) in order to promote interaction and
collaboration between the two institutions.
The primary focus is to enhance research
outreach programme and medical services amongst
faculty members, scientists and students to carry
out joint academic and research programmes,
joint supervision of masters and doctoral students
as well as collaborative research projects.
Some other joint academic programmes to be
initiated under the arrangement are conducting
short modular courses designed for undergraduate
and postgraduate students, exchange of faculty
members, use of laboratory facilities and sharing
of data, among others.
Swansea University Medical
School (SUMS), UK and St John’s
Research Institute (SJRI), India
have signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) to jointly
establish an education hub
specialising in health informatics
in Bengaluru. The education hub
at SJRI will receive its first intake
of Indian students studying for
the Swansea University’s two-year
MSc in Health Informatics course
very soon. Students studying in
India through the education hub
at SJRI will be awarded a Swansea
University degree upon successful
completion of the course. The
courses will be delivered by
Swansea University Medical
School’s health informatics
teaching team through ‘real-time’
tele-presence learning, alongside
students studying at Swansea
University in the UK, and working
in close collaboration with the
team from the Division of Medical
Informatics at St John’s Research
Institute, Bengaluru.
Zydus Cadila has inked an
agreement with Council of
Scientific and Industrial
Research (CSIR) - Institute
of Microbial Technology
(IMTECH) to identify
new drug candidates for
treatment of drug resistant
infections. The collaborative
research agreement will
see scientists from both
organisations working
together on microbiology
and genomics to identify
new lead candidate as
novel anti-tuberculosis
compound. For this project,
scientists at IMTECH will
utilise their expertise and
scientific knowledge in
microbiology while Zydus
Cadila will provide expertise
in medicinal chemistry
and pharmaceutical drug
development to develop new
drug combinations against
drug-resistant pathogens
which causes severe diseases
in India and across the world.
