The Arecibo Message from 1974
was the first radio signal with a
specific destination outside the Solar
System. It consists of 73 lines of 23
characters each, which make up a
graphic message that primarily describes
the chemistry behind life on Earth.
However, the signal will just miss its
destination, the M13 star cluster.

Arrival time: 22155.

Astronomer Carl Sagan helped
produce the contents of the Pioneer,
Voyager and Arecibo messages.
