SPELLING BEE

How many common words of 5 or more letters can
you spell using the letters in the hive? Every answer
must use the center letter at least once. Letters may
be reused in a word. At least one word will use all 7
letters. Proper names and hyphenated words are not
allowed. Score 1 point for each answer, and 3 points
for a word that uses all 7 letters.

Rating: 6 = good; 14 = excellent; 20 = genius

The answer to each clue contains a five-letter
palindromic sequence, which can been changed to
a single new letter to form one of the 10 words at
the bottom. For example, if a clue’s answer were BAR
BRAWL, the sequence ARBRA could be changed to
an O to make BOWL. Put the letter that replaces each
palindromic sequence into the blank provided. The
result, reading down, will be an appropriate phrase.
