TV | Twenties
COMEDYCo-executive-produced by Lena Waithe, Twenties is the
Emmy winner’s semiautobiographical story of a gay black
writer (Jonica “Jojo” T. Gibbs) finding her place in Hollywood—
and life—with the help of her friends. The comedy is light and
deft. This is possibly the first show to ask how you can ghost
someone who doesn’t have a phone. (BET, Wednesdays, 10 p.m.)
NETFLIX | The Letter for the King
FANTASYIn those dark and not so distant times—when
Game of Thrones had ended and the thirst for medieval fantasy
was not yet slaked—there came this new saga,
telling the tale of brave young Tiuri (Amir Wilson).
A knight-to-be was he, of indeterminate potential, on a mission
to save his people from vanquishment by the evil Prince
Viridian (Gijs Blom). And it was adjudged good for kids—
it’s based on a classic YA novel, for one thing—and more
enjoyable than the other Netflix medieval fantasy, The Witcher,
the one with Henry Cavill in a wig. (Launches March 20)
