of this appendix.
The following sections are arranged by category and provide a summary of the content you’ll
find on the DVD.

Chapter Files

In the Chapters directory you will find all the files for completing the tutorials and understanding
concepts in this book. This includes sample files, as well as video files that provide screen record-
ings of the exercises in progress. Sculpting is an artistic process that cannot always be described
with words alone. You’re strongly encouraged to view the movies that accompany some of the
exercises in the chapters to see how the example files were created. The video files were recorded
using the TechSmith screen capture codes (www.techsmith.com) and compressed with H.264 com-
pression. The videos included will, I hope, help further illustrate the sculptural approach I take in
ZBrush. Being able to see a tool in use can better illustrate the concepts than still images alone.

Bonus PDFs

You will find two PDF files with bonus material.
“Bonus Content 1: Medieval Door 2.5D Illustration” extends the work of Chapter 1, “Sculpting,
from Traditional to Digital.” If you want more practice, follow this exercise on adding more detail to
the lion’s head. This bonus section introduces ZBrush’s 2.5D tools, canvas modeling, texturing, light-
ing, and materials.
“Bonus Content 2: ZScripts, Macros, and Interface Customization” provides you with custom
menu sets, hotkeys, and custom macros to improve your workflow. The chapter includes an introduc-
tion to ZScripting by guest artist Svengali.
“Bonus Content 3: The Making of Elite Soldier” depicts Fabian Loing sculpting with masks
tutorial.
“Bonus Content 4: An Alternative Approach to Compositing: The Making of Fume” contains
Alex Alvarez’s rendering and compositing tutorial.
