Samsung said the Fold was a luxury device for early adopters. It was too
early for the Fold to go mainstream. “And there may yet be a time when the
world is full of foldable displays,” speculated Wired reviewer Lauren
Goode, who gave the Fold five stars out of ten. That time, however, was not
now.
Almost a month later, on October 25, Jay Lee returned to court for his
retrial, where he got a lecture from the judge. “As the head of a company
representing our country, I hope you will feel responsible and humbly
accept the results of this trial,” the judge said in the first hearing.

One day later, Jay’s board seat was up for renewal. He ceded it. But he
continued to hold the title vice chairman and to manage the company.
After three years of court hearings and four trials, his bribery verdict
was anticipated in early 2020. As this book went to bed, Jay Lee was still
on trial.
