GOREME
One of Turkey’s UNESCO
World Heritage Sites,
the Goreme Open-Air
Museum is a town
highlight. Here, you can
see fairy chimneys, cave
churches, vibrant frescoes,
and monasteries (the
region was the center of
monastic life until the
13th century) carved into
the rocks. The area is
also popular for hot-air
ballon rides: Take the
time to soar above the city
to experience once-in-
a-lifetime scenery.

AVANOS
Your trip souvenir
is decided: pottery.
Due to its distinctive
red clay, Avanos
has been a hub for
pottery for thousands
of years. Walk the
town to observe
artists crafting their
creations in one of the
pottery workshops,
or fashion something
yourself in a class led
by local artisans.

appadocia has a unique geography, one shaped by nature as well as ancient civilizations.
Today, Cappadocia (which means “land of beautiful horses” in ancient Persian) covers
an expansive area that encompasses parts of several cities, namely Aksaray, Nevsehir,
Nigde, Kayseri, and Kirsehir in Central Anatolia. Best known for its famous fairy chimneys, tall
rock formations millions of years in the making, the area has a mystical, magical quality that
can hardly be captured on Instagram (though we will try). Exploring Cappadocia is a bucket list
trip for anyone with a bad case of wanderlust.
