IN FOCUS
Through striking high-contrast photography, visual activist Zanele Muholi documents and
gives visibility to South Africa’s black LGBTQ community, and explores
themes of racism, labor, Eurocentrism, and sexual politics. On April 29 , London’s Tate Modern will
unveil a mid-career survey of Muholi’s work, including a mix of more
than 250 intimate images of queer communities and arresting self-portraits. ➤
