Whenit comestorampingthingsupforthesummer,youneedto
knowthecapital‘E’methodofapplication.First,
takeyourbrush(I usea fanbrushforcreamcolour
anda bigfluffynumberforpowders)andstart
withyourbronzeratthecentreoftheforehead.
Slowlymovethebristlesdowntowardsthe
temples.Oncethere,movethebrushalongthe
undersidesofthecheekbonesandbackagain,
thendowntowardsthejawline,takingthebr ush
inwardstothechin.Repeatontheotherside,then
addadotofcolouronthebridgeofthenose.
Thismimicshowthesunwouldkissourface,so
it worksa treatfortantrickery.Watchhowmuchproductyouload
onyourbrush,though– it’seasiertogobackoverit todarkenthan
totryandtakeit offafterwards.Theideais tofakeyourowntan,not
someoneelse’s,sogotwoshadeswarmerthanyourcomplexion.

During winter, I rely on cooltaupeshades
to swipe under cheekbonestocreateshadow,
and, well, cheekbones. Useyourfingerstofeel
below the bone and work pigmentinunderthe
length of the cheek. Go fortwoshadesdarkerthanyourskintone.
Cream bronzers are best forthis:theymakecontouringfareasierto
fake because they can be blendedintoskinwithoutanytidemarks.
Here, shimmer is a no-no – Iprefermymake-uptomimicskin.
