treerooscurrentlyinhercare.
Shebeckonsmeintothehos-
pital,whichlooksmorelikea
holidaycottage,tomeetoneof
hercharges.
“ThisisLillie,oneofourbigba-
bies,”Karensays,bendingtopickup
a plump,eight-kilogramtreeroorest-
ingonanoldcouch.Lookingrather
likeanoversizedpossumbutwithan
extra-longtail,LilliesnugglesintoKa-
ren’sneck,clearlyenjoyingthecuddle.
“Shecameinasa youngster,blind
andwitheye damage,”Karenex-
plains.“She’dbeenattackedbya dog
andhada fracturedanklethatturned
intoa boneinfection.Shecomesin
thehouseeverydayandisa staron
ourFacebookpage.Neilbringsher
upaboutfiveinthemorning,andshe
climbsontheropesandshelves,that’s
herplaytime.”
