READER’S DIGEST
I ENJOY SEEING THE FUNNY SIDE OF LIFE. Perhaps
it’s a necessary survival tool as the mother of three teens
and one pre-teen. But science can back my hunch that
having a quiet chuckle and a jolly giggle is genuinely good
for my sanity – and my brain. In ‘Laugh Yourself Smarter’
(page 30) we meet a neuroscientist who is also a stand-up
comedian (an interesting mix!). His research, both in the
laboratory and on the stage, has revealedthat laughing
boosts our physical and mentalwellbeing.
In a nutshell, laughing is the perf
workout for your brain.
On a more serious note, in ‘Rar
(page 92) we meet a team of volu
whose work in New Zealand’sBa
of Plenty region is helping to prot
the iconic kiwi, which is facing
serious decline. I hope you
enjoy this issue.
