matters,sincewomenwithanygiven
bodycompositionandageburnfew-
erkilojoulesthancomparablemen.
Youcan’t easilymeasureyour
restingmetabolicrateina precise
way.Therearesomecommercially
availabletests,butthebestmeas-
urements come from research
studiesthatuseexpensiveequip-
ment.However,youcangeta rough
estimateofyourrestingmetabolic
ratebypluggingsomebasicvaria-
blesintoonlinecalculators,suchas
age,heightandweight.Thesewill
tellyouhowmanykilojoulesyou’re
expectedtoburneachday,andif
youeatthatmanyandyourweight
staysthesame,it’sprobablycorrect.
