With all the features you’d want in

a flagship, plus a few more, this is

the best Android of 2020 so far

A few software foibles aside, the

Galaxy S20 feels like the Goldilocks

of flagship phones right now: not

too big and clever, not too small and

basic, just right. It delivers excellent

battery life, a phenomenal display, blistering

performance and superb image quality. Until

someone else does it better, this is the Android

handset to beat. @TomMorgan3

Here’s an unexpected

twist: the Oppo Find X2

Pro is about as good as any

phone out there. It looks

great, feels incredibly slick

thanks to a 120Hz screen,

and has a camera with a

periscope zoom that lets

you shoot pictures of dogs

at the park without getting

your ankles bitten.

Yes, paying £1099 for

an Oppo does seem odd,

in the UK at least. It’s a

household name in India

and China, but say it to

a friend over here and

the most likely response

is “What?” There are also

a few bugs in the software

and some areas to tighten

up in the camera. But this

is still undoubtedly one of

the best Android phones

around right now.

The ongoing Google

row means Huawei has

been all but knocked out

of the ring for the moment.

Phones like this, and other

smashers like the A5

2020 and Reno 2, show

that Oppo is ready to take

its place. Better watch

out, Samsung.
