placed aramid protection and
they’re great value at less than
£100. There’s some stretch in the
denim, thanks to Elastane in the
blend to make moving around on
the bike easy, where they felt very
comfortable. The lower leg was
tight though, meaning it was tricky
to get them over boots but again,
the stretch helped. In the drag
test, they did reasonably well
for the first two runs but the
lightweightmaterialbeganto
bunchupforthenexttwo,causing
holesthatappearedlowerdown
the leg, beneath the protective
liner. This in turn meant the
potential for injury in a longor
high-speed slide. A shame,as
they did well on the bike.

A nicepairofjeans,these.The
straightcutmeansyouhavethe
optionofbothnarroworwide
boots and the cupped knee armour
helps to keep them in place and
stop them riding up. The Cordura
denim feels really nice in use and
the mesh lining means they stay
cool and moving around on the
bike is easy. It’s a shame that the
knee armour, while not riding up,
did have a tendency to rotate
within the pouch and this reduced
comfort. In the drag test, several
holes appeared in the Cordura
outer,includingunderonebutt
cheekbutnonepenetratedthe
Kevlarreinforcement.Twotiny
holes appeared just belowthe
Kevlar liner, meaning althoughthey
may not have caused injury,we
can’t give full marks.

Cordura/cotton material felt
reassuring and the armour was
decent too. They felt great on the
bike, even if the waist felt slightly
tighter than other 34in jeans but
they still allow movement on the
bike nonetheless. The only
downside from a riding point of
view is that over time, the knee
armour rode up, leaving the knees
slightly exposed. This is even with
the adjustable pads in the right
placetostartwith.If they stayed
put,theywouldhavegota 9 for
confidence.Inthedragtest,a
small hole developed afterthe
second run. Another joinedit inthe
third and by the fourth, therewere
a handful of small holes thatwould
potentially have left a mark.
