BE PART OF THE SOLUTION TO PLASTIC POLLUTION
WITH HELP FROM THE SOAP KITCHEN

CONSCIENCE

A Clean

Try a soap bar
You can make your
own soap using a
simple melt and pour
method. The Soap
Kitchen has a wide range of
soap bases, including aloe vera,
carrot and cucumber, and even
donkey milk. All you have to do is cut
the base into chunks, melt them, stir
in a fragrance or colour of your choice
(or keep it natural), then pour into a
reusable mould and leave to cool.

Use natural exfoliants
Micro plastics are one of the biggest
ocean pollutants, and the use of them
in cosmetic products has been banned
in the UK. There are many natural
alternatives such as coffee arabica
seed powder for gentle exfoliation,

Himalayan sea salt,
which is great for bath
salts or body scrubs,
and ground pumice stone.
Dried botanicals also work as
a natural exfoliant – try poppy
seeds, oatmeal or seaweed.

Bulk buy
If you’re not yet ready to give up your
shower gel or liquid soap, why not buy
big bottles and decant the contents
into smaller pre-used (and washed)
containers? This will both save you
money and reduce plastic waste.
The Soap Kitchen also has a range of
toiletry bases, including a natural
clear shower gel base – keep it plain or
add a fragrance of your choice.

Opt for a reed diffuser
Swap your plastic air freshener for
an eco-friendly reed diffuser. You can
customise them with your favourite
scent in a reusable and recyclable
glass bottle.
