Bears
Bears incountries across the northern
Hemisphere, from Canada and the
US to Finland and Russia, have been
waking up from hibernationearly.
It is thought thatwarm weather has
encouraged the bears to end their
deep sleep too soon, which means
they might struggle to findfood.

Howcan prey escape from

cheetahs if they’resofast?

Antelopes aresome of the most
common prey typesfor
cheetahs. Theirbest tactic for
escape is to try to trick them by
changing direction veryfast,
whichcanthrow the cheetahs
off. The cheetahs’ longtails help
themstaybalanced while
changing direction,but th ey still
onlycatch around 40–50% of
the prey they chase.
