HOW IT WORKS
The Wyze Scale has a network of sensors built into the glass, so it can take your
measurements no matter where you stand on it. It determines your body fat
percentage using a process called bioelectric impedance analysis (BIA), which
involves sending a weak, safe electric current through your body. The current
moves quickly through muscle and faces resistance—impedance—moving
through fat. The Scale measures that impedance to calculate your body fat.
It then uses your real-time weight and impedance data plus the personal
information you entered during setup (gender, height, and weight) to calculate
all the other body composition measurements.
Wyze says the Scale’s weight measurements are accurate within 0.5 percent,
meaning if you weigh 150 pounds, it might tell you you’re 0.75-pound lighter or
heavier than you actually are. Its BIA data is accurate within 1 percent. Just be
sure to enter your personal information correctly, because if your age or height

It’s also important to note that if you’re pregnant, under 18, over 65, have
osteoporosis or very low bone density, have swelling in the body, or are on
dialysis, the Scale’s body fat calculations can be inaccurate due to “deviations
from standard averages.”
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
The small electric current sent through your body during BIA measurement can

app called Only Measure Weight, which disables the BIA measurement. That
way, the Scale will not send the electric current through your body, and will
measure only your weight. To enable this mode, open the Wyze app, tap Wyze
Scale, then tap the gear icon to open Scale Settings, tap Users, select your email
address, then tap the slider next to Only Measure Weight, and press Yes to

Wyze says the BIA current doesn’t pose a risk to pregnancy but advises those
who are expecting to check with their doctor before using the Scale. If you’re
pregnant, you may want to enable the Only Measure Weight setting just to be
safe, especially considering the Scale’s body composition results will be
inaccurate anyway.
