Review by Peter Bauer

If you’re a designer or photographer who wants to use color
as powerfully as possible, this is a great book for you. Whether
you’re designing a logo or replacing a portrait background,
choosing the correct color can make the difference between
good and great. This book explores the concept of color
harmony, defines the terminology you need, explains color
wheels and the psychology of color, looks at each of the most
important colors, and then goes into detail about color and
mood. “Moods” has 30 sections ranging from Active to Play-
ful to Venerable, each displaying three dozen color wheels
showing colors that work together to create the look you
need. (Open Photoshop’s Color Picker and click Color Libraries to
select the appropriate Pantone “book” from which to choose
colors.) You can order sets of color swatches, the Formula
and Color guides, from Pantone.com for a hardcopy example
of each color. n
