BOOST YOUR PRODUCTIVITY & CREATIVITY

COMBINE ALL OPEN WINDOWS
INTO A SINGLE DOCUMENT
Have you ever had lots of windows open and you wanted
to combine them into a single document? I know what many
of you do (because I used to do it). You tile all the windows
and then drag each of them into the same document, one
at a time. As you go, you close the windows you’ve used
and keep dragging until everything is in one document. Then,
after you’ve closed all the other windows, you realize you
forgot an image (don’t look at me like that; we’ve all done it).
A much better way is to choose the window you want to use,
and then go to File>Scripts>Load Files into Stack. When the
dialog opens, choose Add Open Files. You’ll see a list appear
of all your currently open files. To remove any documents
you don’t want included from the list, click on it, and select
Remove. When you click OK, all the images will be placed
into a single document in separate layers. You’re welcome!

SAVE LAYER
ADJUSTMENT PRESETS
Do you spend a lot of time getting adjustment layers exactly
the way you like them? Depending on the adjustment, they
can take a lot of work, especially things such as Selective
Color, or using color channels in Curves. Did you know that
you can save those settings as presets? If you’re working
on similar images, you can apply the presets to save a lot
of time. If you’re working on different types of images, you
can still use them as a starting point to get a certain type
of look. All you have to do is click on the top-right “ham-
burger menu” in the Properties panel (Window>Properties)
and choose Save [name of adjustment] Preset. Give your
preset a name, and click Save. All the presets for that tool
will appear in the Preset drop-down menu at the top of the
Properties panel.

I know you’ve been craving more tips for speed and cooler-looking images in Photoshop. Who doesn’t
want their images to look 79% better in 48% of the time? While I can’t guarantee these tips will
shave more than 50% off your workflow, they will reduce some repetition and allow you to have
100% more fun with the time you have left over. (If nothing else, you’ll find the tip on math useful.)
