Step 21: Create another new layer
at the top of the layer stack, and
name it “Light Streaks.” Switch to
the Elliptical Marquee tool (nested
under the Rectangular Marquee tool
[M] in the Toolbar), hold the Shift
key, and create a round selection
around the top of the lighthouse.
Tip: Press-and-hold the Spacebar
while drawing a selection to repo-
sition it. Tap the D key to reset the
colors to their defaults of black and
white. Holding the Option (PC: Alt)
key, go to Filter>Render>Clouds to
fill the selection with a cloud texture.
The Option (PC: Alt) key will create
clouds with more contrast. Press
Command-D (PC: Ctrl-D) to cancel
the selection.
Step 22: Go to Filter>Blur>Motion
Blur, and set the Angle to 0° and
the Distance to 1200 Pixels. Click
OK. Then, press Command-L (PC:
Ctrl-L) to apply Levels. Bring the
outside handles below the histo-
gram in toward the center to greatly
increase the contrast of the texture,
and click OK.
