Kortleve’s most distinguishing feature
is, arguably, in her hands, where
self love is spelled out in a tattoo
on her fingers. “I struggled for two
years with my weight, trying to be
sample size—sometimes only eating
a banana a day—before I decided
to stop,” says Kortleve, 26. The
Surinamese-Dutch model made her
return to the runway a year later,
this time with the full embrace of her
body’s natural size. “If someone
doesn’t want to book me because of
my size, that’s fine,” says Kortleve,
whose résumé now boasts labels
including Jacquemus and Alexander
McQueen. “What’s most important
is that I’m happy with who I am.”
