In this chapter, you were introduced to the Zend Framework, including the setup and boot-
strapping process. You downloaded the packages, fixed permissions, and generally configured
your web server environment for the framework. Next, you learned about the elements in the
MVC pattern as they apply to the Zend Framework.
The sample project in this chapter presented a very introductory view of how the Zend
Framework can work with your development process. In the next chapters, you will learn how
to use many of the other Zend Framework features, including module support and several of
the built-in components, to control access to your applications, send mail, use sessions, log
