WORKING FROM HOME SUCCESSFULLY
Once the technology has been covered,
motivating a team to work successfully from
their homes can be a challenge. For those who
aren’t already enforcing a work from home
policy, it’s recommended that you allow your
team the flexibility to work remotely today, so
you can work out the systems and processes
you need to put into place if you ease your way
into remote work. It’s also important to agree
on objectives, and let your team know what
you’d like them to do, and when. It’s critical
you recognize that those objectives may be
different than they were when your team was
in an office together, and have the tools and
support in place to help them achieve their
responsibilities, even if that’s differently than
it was before.
It’s vital that you trust your staff. As a boss, it’s
natural to feel as though you are losing control
when your employees are no longer visible from
your plush CEO office, but you should remember
why you hired the people you did, and trust
that they’ll perform at their best during these
challenging times.
As an employee, motivating yourself isn’t
without its challenges. Make sure you get
dressed at the start of the day - though it
might be tempting to file accounts in your PJs
watching TV, putting on a uniform, even a t-shirt
and pair of sweats, will get you into the right
mindset. You should also spend some time
finding a dedicated workspace in your home,
to reduce the chances of distraction. And, where
possible, go outside - stretch your legs, work out,
and breathe in some fresh air.
