Developer Derek
Yu took to the
PlayStation blog
to offer an
update on the
sequel to
much-loved 2D platformer
Spelunky. There’s plenty more
treasure for the tiny cave
explorer to excavate this time
around, as well as unfamiliar
faces to encounter and extra
items to grab.
This time Yu and his team at
Mossmouth want to develop “that
feeling of a dynamic, living world

that has been our goal since day
one.” Hand-in-hand with that is
the aim “to make each run feel
even more like a personalised
adventure”, hence all those
new characters and items to
encourage the sort of unplanned,
emergent narratives every
Spelunky player just loves to tell
you all about. Yu explains, “We
want to keep supporting that kind
of creativity by adding more
variety to the game.”
