IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THE LIFESTYLE AND TRADITIONS OF
ARCTIC EUROPE FOR A RICHER TRAVEL EXPERIENCE

Living life

the Nordic way

Local foraging experts
will introduce you to
the Nordic way of life

LOCAL LIVES is an innovative travel
concept devised by award-winning
Nordic destination experts, Discover
the World. Built around personal
connections and addressing the
ever-growing thirst for authenticity,
the ethos is simple – instead of just
visiting a destination or travelling
through it, immerse yourself in its
nature and culture, through the
lives of locals. Passionate about
their homelands and traditions,
they’ll enrich your holiday with
unforgettable encounters, tastes
and sights that you simply wouldn’t
experience on a regular trip.
The first two holidays in the new
collection are Swedish Lapland and
Northern Norway. Visit in late summer
and autumn, when the colours are at
their most vibrant, and there’s a high
chance of seeing the northern lights.

LESS IS MORE
Travelling in a small group of up to
12 people means that experiences
shared are intimate and rewarding.
You’ll return home feeling inspired
by the people you’ve met and the
things that you’ve learned – you may
well find that your wellbeing is also
improved as a result. And with no
single supplement, these holidays
are a great option for solo travellers.

ARCTIC SWEDEN
(7 NIGHTS, FROM
AUG-OCT)
This trip combines characterful
accommodations on either side

of the Arctic Circle with traditional
activities such as forest bathing –
taking time to reconnect with nature

  • a husky hike with local mushers,
    local craft workshops, plus
    an astronomy evening and northern
lights walks. You’ll spend part of the
trip in the Sámi village of Jokkmokk,
where you’ll take part in a fascinating
foraging tour and join a culinary
guide on a series of wonderful tasting
    experiences to learn about wild,
edible plants and their health benefits.
Plus you’ll get to explore an organic
Arctic farm, take part in a traditional
    bread-making class and enjoy a
tasting menu based on the eight
    seasons of the Sámi. Afterwards,
you’ll travel to the Sapmi Nature
Camp, where you can learn about
the Sámi way of life, including life
as a reindeer herder. You will get
    the opportunity to help prepare
Sámi meals and to simply enjoy
    the tranquility of the camp.

NORWAY’S SENJA
ISLAND (6 NIGHTS,
FROM AUG-OCT)
The wild, mountainous island of
Senja off the northern coast of
Norway is home to some of the
most awe-inspiring scenery in the
country. Your hosts for this exciting
experience will impart their local
knowledge of the island’s traditions
and history, alongside excursions
to enjoy forest and ocean foraging,
time spent exploring the ancient
Ånderdalen National Park, traditional

saunas and northern lights walks.
Making up part of the itinerary of
this trip, you’ll also join the Husky
Musher and his pure-bred Siberian
huskies for hikes around spectacular
mountainous scenery, while the
History Sisters will talk about how
swapping a hectic lifestyle for the
calming vibe of their childhood island
helped them to reconnect with nature

  • hopefully leaving you relaxed and
    revitalised, too.
