atie Holmes is a woman of

few words. Ever since she

blindsided Tom Cruise with

a divorce in 201 2, the actress,

41 , has kept mum about their

almost six-year marriage and what

role Scientology played in its demise.

But in a rare new interview, Holmes

opens up about the hardships she

endured nearly a decade ago. “That

time was intense,” the Dawson’s

Creek alum told InStyle about

relocating to New York City with her

daughter, Suri, post-split. “It was

a lot of attention, and I had a little

child on top of it.”

CITY SLICKERS Holmes has since

unfazed. While being a

single mom is challenging,

many people I didn’t know

what I love about the city.”
