  • Last week hundreds of Mutual Aid Groups stepped into communities
to help people help each other through the coronavirus disruption.
Becky Wass, a 32-year-old lecturer in Cornwall, designed a ‘self-isolation
postcard’ that provides a template for people to ofer help to neighbours
who might need it. We know not everyone has access to a printer but
might still be keen to help others, so we’ve printed the postcard below –
cut it out, fi ll it in and stick it through a neighbour’s door, if you are healthy
enough to help. To contact your local group, head to covidmutualaid.org.

  • Constantine Bay stores in Cornwall
    is running morning shopping
    sessions exclusively for those born
before 1950 to reduce their risk of
being exposed to the virus when
    stores are busier.

  • Glasgow social enterprise
    Weekday Wow Club, which holds
    daytime discos for over-50s, is
    holding weekly virtual discos for
those social distancing at home using
    conference call technology.

  • London sotware development
fi rm Tbk is ofering a free
    consultation to any businesses which
want to send their employees home
but need help getting set up to make
    their operation work remotely.

  • Artist and comedian Noel Fielding
has launched an online art club to
keep kids occupied at home, and
    is encouraging submissions for an
    online gallery.

  • London nightclub 338, which has
a capacity of 3,000, is temporarily
turning its premises into a warehouse
to store food and other essentials to be
delivered to vulnerable people in the
capital. Bosses said they’ll throw a party
    for volunteers when the pandemic
passes and it’s safe to do so.

  • Manchester United and
    Manchester City supporters have
teamed up to launch a “fans’ fund”,
which is going to be split evenly
    between the city’s 18 foodbanks.

  • Friend of The Big Issue Caroline Lucas will be
ensuring that our Future Generations campaign
moves forward despite the coronavirus. At the time
of going to press, the Green MP is set to introduce
a 10-Minute Rule Bill to the Commons on Tuesday
March 24 outlining how Big Issue founder John Bird’s
Future Generations Bill will give “teeth” to the Welsh
Act that inspired it. Lord Bird’s drat legislation
received cross-party support in its second reading
    earlier this month.
