National Geographic Traveller UK – August 2019

(singke) #1
1 HIKE THE SOTELEDEN TRAIL
This trail runs for 45 miles along
beautiful forest, mountain and coastal
scenery, and is divided into 20 sections,
with easy access from different
locations. Don’t miss Ramvikslandet
Nature Reserve, where you can climb
the dramatic cliffs by the sea.

2 EXPLORE THE GÖTA CANAL
This canal stretches from Gothenburg in
the west to Stockholm in the east. Enjoy
a cruise aboard the MS Juno with tours
of Karlsborg Fortress and the Viking
city of Birka. Alternatively, set off on
a day-long cycle of the towpath from
Sjötorp to Hajstorp.

3 RAMBLE AROUND AN ISLAND
On Dyrön island in southern Bohuslän,
you can wander among flocks of wild
mouflon sheep before taking a dip
at the sandy beach near the island’s
southern harbour. Later, head to the
public sauna to relax while enjoying
amazing sea views.
