ALES of Easter table decorations are
usually at their peak this week, in
the run-up to Easter get-togethers.
But according to Habitat the past
few weeks has seen a rise in online
sales of dining tables, thanks to
enforced home working.
“We’re seeing a huge spike in sales of
folding dining tables and dining tables that
can easily be converted from desk working
space to dining,” says a spokesman.
Now that we’re all online shoppers it’s
worth sticking to a few rules and the most
important is to shop at stores you know
rather than opportunistic pop-ups.
It’s also best to avoid using free public wifi
that can be hacked and to use a credit card
rather than debit card, because they offer
purchase protection.
Most importantly, make sure the website
address starts with https – the s indicates
security – and that it has a small padlock
symbol on the web address.
These ensure, for instance, that credit card
details are encrypted and they’re easier to
identify if you use a computer rather than
mobile phone.
Stores such as Marks & Spencer, Argos and
John Lewis are selling online as normal and
Neptune is being especially creative: “We’re
offering customers the opportunity to talk to
our staff using FaceTime,” says a spokesman.
Neptune’s online orders are being
delivered by drivers offering to collect food
and essential supplies, where needed.
And with John Lewis Click & Collect
services available for overnight delivery
to Waitrose stores, you can still get your
Easter table decorations.
